Haha haven't posted here for sometime. Oh well shit happens.
What happened to the gamedev thingie? Well im still working in the biz. I have somehow magically managed to work on no less then 10 titles. 5 of those are released games. Woho.
The gamingbiz is a lot different then i expected. I was expecting a bunch of nerds sitting in dark offices not speaking to each other while masturbating to their plastic anime dolls when no one is watching guzzling down jolt cola. this however is not the case.
Most are just regular people that are very good at what they do. Another interesting note is that many of them are not even that fond of video games. And those that do game are either stuck in their old games (CS, Starcraft, Fallout 2 etc) or are more casual games that enjoy a game of the latest EA sport games or Guitar Hero.
I find myself often being one of the few that are actually hyped about new titles like GTA4. Haha.
Another feature to have no matter what you work with in the gaming biz is being able to communicate. If you are shy, unfriendly, or in any other way socially incompetent it will be really hard to find a job in the gaming biz. (unless you are a programming god with some serious mad skillz)
N00b programmers are actually more then welcome as long as they have good spirit and are willing to learn. Of course you will need to prove that you actually can code some kind of simple game by yourself (pacman, tetris or similar) but more than that is not required. Obviously you will have to do all the boring stuff no one wants to touch in the beginning (UI and localization programming anyone?)
For an artist though the bar is sky high. You will need to have some serious talent if you want to be a artist. Decent isn't enough as much of the "decent" content gets outsourced to companies in china, russia, etc)
Dont even get me started on being a music designer, gamedesigner or concept artist. You will either need to have a bunch of titles in your portfolio or have massive talent. But I guess for pretty obvious reasons big studios don't take in noobs in these fields as if you fail you might bring the entire game down with you.
Obviously I don't play as many games as I used to but I still play privately on a daily basis.
I have actually stopped to download games and buy all my games. But in a way it's still the same. The only difference is that now I don't have time to download and play the hordes of crap that is constantly released and just play those few great titles that I would have bought anyway.
The overtime stuff that has been making it rounds in the media regarding the gaming biz is somewhat overblown.
Sure at times you will need to crunch, doing 15 hour days happen, working weekends happen also. But this usally only happens when there is a certain deadline coming up. Also many feel some sort of pride and don't want to release a shit game so they take the time to perfect the part that they are responsible for.

A New Start
I know I know I suck at updating this page.
But from time to time i do actually do it.
A lot of thing's have happend in my life for better and worse.
First of all I am now in the gamedevelopment biz for real yaaaaaay ( Yeah multimillion-budget crossplatform, The whole dealio)
but sadly i lost my girlfriend in the process. After 5 years and 4 months I guess she could not cope with my damn games anymore. Ah well not much to do about it but i do feel that it is a waste when finally the whole game thing is actually starting to generate money for me. Stupid bitch =)
Right now i am in the middle of moving to a new city and starting a new life, Have to clean up this apartment tomorrow and start packing all my stuff. Urgh it's going to be a rough and hectic week and simply cannot wait until Sunday when i have all my shit in my new apartment. The 6 hour train ride is going suck mucho though, It's a shame the batteries in the PSP only last for 3.

Boten Anna
Hehe I bet everyone has seen this one before, Basically a song about a irc bot called Anna.
It seems that it might become a worldwide smash hit :)
It has already started to air on TV channels in Sweden which is pretty hilarious considering the content of the song :D
Anyway by pure coincidence I bumped into the real Anna from the video on the net. Pretty nice girl :)
Here are some pictures of here ;D

X-Men 3 The Last Stand
Watched this one in the cinema today with a couple of friends and well it was nothing special. Lots of cheesy one lines, a extremely predictable script with lots of yawn moments. The qAlsouality of effects where kinda mixed some looked nice others looked outdated. Also the things shown in the trailer are more or less everything that is in the movie. But the biggest problem with the film is its story and how they have tried to fit in to much crap with to little time to actually develop anything. I lost track of how many new mutants there are in the movie because there are a lot but you don't get to know them very well and they barely have any back story, so you have all these unknown people on the screen fighting each other and you really don't care.
the best thing this movie has is its actors I have to say most of them made a brilliant job. Specially Magneto, Professor X, Wolverine and Jean Gisn'tray.
this film isn't bad but its defenantly the weakest movie of the three. It feels almost like the terminator 3 film. Sure it has the same formula but something just doesn't add up. Its to dumb and stupid for its own good. Also I noticed they changed both director and writer. That has probably a lot to do with it.
ah well its worth a watch but not really worth paying for
7/10

Slow Day
Yesterday was a pretty slow day, Did not get much done except idling. Started to play Condemned a bit, really cool game so far.
Another wierd thing is my day rhythm. I don't have any solid times to follow anymore so I just sleep as much as I want resulting in really long sleep periods. I mean jeez today ive slept for around 14 hours.
Anyway in about 2 hours i'm going to the cinema to watch X-men 3. Hopefully its good and not a waste of money.

Rally Roads
Well i'm basically done with the roads now. The map is almost looking like a rally course now haha.
the next step will be adding objects into the world I presume.
Not much more to report, went to school later in the evening and watched a movie. Attack the Gas Station! hilarious and brutal Korean comedy. Highly recommended!
